7 years after the start of the legal case, the Trapani Public Prosecutor's Office has asked for no prosecution, because the fact does not constitute a crime, for the crew of the ship Iuventa, a vessel of the German NGO "Jugend Rettet", accused of aiding and abetting illegal immigration.
The release of the vessel from seizure has also been requested.
The judge reserved his decision.
According to the accusation, the suspects did not provide assistance to the refugees but acted as sea "taxis" for them, transporting them from the ships of Libyan traffickers and then allowing them, once they had taken the migrants on board, to return undisturbed.
