Highlights: More money in old age? Determine the correct pension by clarifying your accounts. Account clarification can be applied for on the German Pension Insurance website using form V0100. This gives you information about all employment periods that have been taken into account by the pension insurance so far. If something was missing from the list, you can have it added. The further back the period that needs to be added, the more difficult it can be to find the relevant evidence in your own documents or to have it sent to you again.

Account clarification ensures that your pension calculation information is complete.

You shouldn't wait until shortly before retirement to do this.

Frankfurt – Especially before starting a full-fledged professional life, employment relationships are often limited in time and there are sometimes longer breaks between one job and the next.

Up to a certain income you are not subject to social security contributions.

But even with a mini-job, it can be worthwhile to voluntarily pay into your pension.

Usually, the information relevant to calculating the pension is automatically forwarded to the pension fund.

However, that is not always the case.

Such gaps should be identified as early as possible so that you don't have to get by with less money in old age than you are actually entitled to.

For this there is the so-called account clarification, which can be processed very easily using an online form.

Account clarification ensures that all relevant benefits are taken into account in the pension

This gives you information about all employment periods that have been taken into account by the pension insurance so far, the news portal

However, this is only possible if you can provide appropriate proof.

Therefore, you should not wait until shortly before you retire to clarify your accounts.

The further back the period that needs to be added is, the more difficult it can be to find the relevant evidence in your own documents or to have it sent to you again.

In the worst case, this is no longer possible and the benefit can no longer be counted towards the pension.

More pension thanks to account clarification – these items should also appear in the list

By the way, it's not just employment relationships that are crucial here.

Other benefits or periods can also be claimed for the pension, informs

finanztip.de

.

These include, among others:

  • Periods of illness (possible proof: proof of health insurance or doctor, rehabilitation approval notice)

  • Unemployment (possible proof: unemployment benefit notice)

  • Child-raising periods (must be applied for separately using form V0800)

  • School or study time (Possible proof: confirmation of study time from the school or university)

Even if school time is mentioned in the list, the regular school time - i.e. primary, middle and secondary school as well as high school - cannot of course be counted towards your pension.

On the pension insurance website, the regulation is formulated a little more comprehensibly: “Attending a technical college or college or university is a credit period from your 17th birthday at the earliest.” A maximum of eight such years can be claimed.

This is possible even if no qualification has been achieved.
