New auction of joint gas purchases in the EU.
This time in the first medium-term tender the offer amounted to a total volume of 97.4 billion cubic meters.
The aggregate demand collected, the Commission announced, amounted to 34 billion cubic meters from 19 companies.
The supplies offered are therefore almost equal to the demand.
Suppliers and consumers have now been matched through the AggregateEU platform and companies will be able to enter into bilateral contract negotiations.
"Today constitutes another positive milestone for the work of the EU energy platform - stated the vice-president of the community executive Maros Sefcovic -. Through coordination and cooperation, we are strengthening Europe's energy security in the face of a difficult geopolitical situation".
Bidding for three times demand is "a remarkable achievement, demonstrating once again that AggregateEe has become a dynamic marketplace for reliable international gas buyers and suppliers, and that it supports the competitiveness of our industry and keeps prices stable for our consumers."
