"Our efforts for the treatment of rare diseases are also constant with regard to the production of orphan drugs and the support of research, a field that can today make use of the resources of the Pnrr. We must continue to work so that people with rare diseases have access to an early and certain diagnosis, timely management, adequate therapies, and a homogeneous care path throughout the national territory".
Thus the Minister of Health Orazio Schillaci in a message on the occasion of an event in the Chamber on the eve of World Rare Diseases Day on 29 February.
"The achievement of these objectives - he added - cannot ignore assiduous discussions with the scientific community, with experts, with patient associations, with the Regions and with all parliamentary forces".
The Ministry of Health, "together with the entire Government and the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni himself, immediately paid great attention to people with rare diseases, their families and patient associations".
Thanks also to "the precious work of Undersecretary Gemmato - the minister then recalled - we have quickly achieved important goals, including the establishment of the National Rare Diseases Committee and the updating of the National Rare Diseases Plan 2023-2026, approved and financed with 50 million euros for the years 2023 and 2024".
