today issued an orange level alert for severe storms for the north of Santa Fe

, while a yellow alert is in effect for storms that may be strong in towns of Misiones, Corrientes, Chaco, Santiago del Estero , Tucumán, Salta and Jujuy.

An orange alert for extreme temperatures due to heat is also in effect for the north of Misiones, in the cities of Eldorado, Iguazú, and the low areas of General Manuel Belgrano and Montecarlo, where maximum temperatures of 36 degrees are expected.

The orange alert for heat implies a "moderate to high effect on health" and warns that temperatures "can be very dangerous, especially for risk groups, such as boys and girls, people over 65 years of age, with chronic diseases," indicated the SMN.

Meanwhile, another orange alert is in effect for this afternoon for storms, some locally strong or severe,

in the north of Santa Fe, in the cities of General Obligado, San Javier, Vera, Nueve de Julio, San Cristóbal and San Justo.

For that area, the SMN predicts storms accompanied by strong electrical activity, occasional hail, intense gusts and abundant falls of water in short periods.

Accumulated precipitation values ​​are estimated between 70 and 90 millimeters (mm), which may be exceeded occasionally.

The orange level implies "dangerous meteorological phenomena for society, life, property and the environment", which is why the national body recommended that the affected population remain in closed constructions such as houses, schools or buildings;

Stay away from electrical appliances and avoid using corded phones.

In addition, he asked that, if traveling, stay inside the vehicle;

avoid driving on flooded or affected streets;

and if there is a risk of water entering homes, cut off the electricity supply.

Due to lower intensity storms, a yellow alert is in force for the entire territory of the provinces of Misiones, Corrientes, Jujuy and Tucumán.

The yellow alert refers to "possible meteorological phenomena with the potential for damage and risk of momentary interruption of daily activities," the SMN said.

Among the recommendations, the organization advised not to take out the trash;

avoid outdoor activities;

do not take shelter near trees and electricity poles that may fall;

do not stay on beaches, rivers, lagoons or pools;

and pay attention to the possible fall of hail.
