'In eleven months there is time to reflect on many things and also on the
invitation to apply offered by the League which, as I have already said, I am evaluating
.
But at the moment I am not releasing the reservation." Thus General Roberto Vannacci to ANSA, answering the question about his possible descent into politics with the League, after the
suspension from employment for eleven months
due to the disciplinary proceedings initiated in recent months by Ministry of Defense following the publication of the book 'The world upside down'.
"Regarding the disciplinary proceedings, Vannacci, who announced an appeal, added: "I will continue to move forward and claim freedom of expression".
Vannacci was suspended from employment for 11 months.
This is what we learn from legal sources in reference to the disciplinary proceedings initiated in recent months by the Ministry of Defense
after the publication of the book
"The world upside down".
In the measure with which the Ministry of Defense suspended the general, according to what was announced by the defender, Giorgio Carta, "the circumstances of the publication of the book 'The world upside down' are stigmatized which allegedly denoted 'lack of sense of responsibility' and determined an "
injury to the principle of neutrality/third party of the Armed Force", "compromising the prestige and reputation
of the Administration to which it belongs and generating possible disruptive and divisive emulative effects within the military structure".
The defender announces that "an immediate appeal will be presented to the Lazio Regional Administrative Court, with a request for suspension, revealing the conflict with the right to free expression of thought guaranteed to all citizens, including the military".
The disciplinary measure for the general will be for
a total of 330 days
and will also involve the "seniority deduction and halving of the salary".
In recent days, the Rome Prosecutor's Office, in light of some complaints presented by associations, has entered Vannacci in the register of suspects on charges of incitement to racial hatred.
In the complaints brought to the attention of the magistrates of Piazzale Clodio, reference is made to some statements in the book.
"An investigation a day, we are ridiculous, how scared is the General? Long live freedom of thought and speech, long live the Armed Forces and the Police Forces, long live the men and women who every day defend the honour, the freedom and security of Italians": this is how the deputy prime minister and Northern League leader Matteo Salvini comments on
Vannacci's
suspension from office on X.
