Footage of an abandoned McDonald's branch goes viral.

The YouTube video shows how cheap burgers used to be compared to today.

Alaska - The grass is overgrown, the metal is rusting, the wall is crumbling - signs of an abandoned area.

And there it stands, inconspicuous and faded, in the middle of the empty houses: a McDonald's branch.

Hardly recognizable from the outside, the symbol is missing, which cannot be overlooked anywhere in the world and is easy to identify.

No sign of a big, yellow “M”.

And yet there is clear evidence that this store was once part of one of the largest and best-known fast food chains in the world.

YouTube video shows abandoned McDonald's branch: Big Mac for just under two euros

Chris Luckhardt

takes his followers on YouTube on a journey to abandoned areas.

This time we're going to the Alaskan island of Adak.

A US Army base was housed here from the Second World War until 1997.

At that time, over 6,000 soldiers and their families lived there.

Nowadays there are only 50 residents left.

The highlight of the video is the old McDonald's menu.

This is from 1994, 30 years ago.

Accordingly, it looks different.

Not just in terms of the offers, but above all the prices.

A Big Mac cost just $2.45.

This corresponds to 2.26 euros.

For comparison: today the popular burger costs an impressive 5.89 euros, more than twice as much.

Cheeseburgers for one euro are a thing of the past in Germany

And another look at the board makes your mouth water.

As has long been the case in Germany, a cheeseburger cost the equivalent of one euro.

As

fastfood-preischeck.de

reveals, these days the burger costs 2.29 euros over the counter.

From January 2024, the prices were raised again.

Prices that customers can only dream of these days.

Also special: At that time, the fries were offered in “dinosaur size”.

The potato sticks were added to the quota when the first Jurassic Park film was released in 1993.

In addition to the fries, there was also a cup with the corresponding dinosaur look.

Inflation, real estate prices, gasoline prices: these are the reasons for the price increases

It is not possible to look into the interior of the branch.

Windows and doors are boarded up.

Only a McDrive counter still bears witness to the times when customers regularly had their orders handed to them in the car.

There are many reasons for the significantly higher prices compared to before.

Financial expert David Klyman speaks at the

“Huffington Post”

of inflation, “but also real estate prices and gasoline prices” as the deciding factor for the increases.

The location of the branch also causes prices to vary.

Does this mean that McDonalds is now as expensive as eating out?

Most recently, a customer showed a high bill for a meal.
