» Like Julie, the thousands of people born on February 29 have already heard this phrase one day.
“I love my date of birth because it is a source of questions,” smiles the architecture student in Seine-et-Marne.
A rarity since in 2020, 1,598 people were born on February 29, or only… 0.22% of births for the year, according to INSEE data.
This Thursday, Julie will celebrate her twentieth birthday “for real” with her loved ones.
If today the young woman appreciates her “special date”, it has caused her some disappointments.
“In kindergarten, my entire class had a calendar with their exact date of birth except me… since it just didn't appear,” she remembers.
The teacher, who “hadn’t thought about it” quickly made up for her oversight at the request of the little girl’s mother.
