Attention schnitzel fans: This Viennese restaurant serves a special version of the meat delicacy.

In relation to the size of the mammoth, it is even inexpensive.

Vienna – For many gourmets it is a task that can last until the end of their lives: the search for the perfect schnitzel.

It has to be visually appealing, have a certain size and taste and ultimately shouldn't cost too much.

But where to start and not just stick your head in the breadcrumbs?

A posting on Reddit shows a picture of a Cordon Bleu that may meet all of the criteria mentioned.

This is what the comments indicate.

Viennese restaurant offers “reference cordon bleu” – which fills the entire plate

“Reference Cordon Bleu, Heidinger’s Gasthaus 1150 Vienna.

It couldn’t be better,” is the title of the Reddit posting in question.

You can see a richly laid table in the inn in question, on which there is a beer mug, a wine glass, a side dish and the meat center of the universe.

Served on a bright white plate, the Cordon Bleu more than fills it.

The breaded schnitzel filled with cheese and ham covers the plate from one side to the other.

At least there is still room for a lemon on the edge to refine the taste.

If you like this schnitzel variant, the mere description might make your mouth water.

“Very fair price”: Reddit users enthusiastic about the incredibly large Cordon Bleu from Vienna

The top comment on the picture in question can then be found at the top.

“By virtue of my office, I hereby confiscate this meat product because, according to subreddit rules, it is not a schnitzel.

I ask that you report further delicacies immediately,” the user would like to eat the Cordon Bleu from Heidinger’s Gasthaus in Vienna straight away.

The person who posted the picture on Reddit reveals in the comments that she would have paid 18.90 euros including the side dish - which turns out to be potato salad.

A “very fair price”, as is immediately noted.

When asked whether this was “874 years ago,” the response was refuted: “No, it was just last weekend.”

Based on the date of posting, this means mid-February 2024.

The reaction to the price of a schnitzel from Munich was much more dissatisfied; there was even talk of “crime”.

“Schmackofatz” or “no schnitzel”?

Mixed reactions to the Mammut Cordon Bleu from Vienna

In times of constantly rising prices, that really sounds more than “very fair”.

The majority of those commenting feel the same way and can't stop raving about the “Reference Cordon Bleu” – which, by the way, is a coinage of the Schnitzel photographer.

“Schmackofatz”, “That counts for two” or simply “Heidinger is recommended” are the words in the comment column.

My news

  • “Naive or stupid”: Man doesn’t pay for electricity reading for three years

  • Income changes in March: Less money for pensioners, more in public services

  • More money for public sector employees: This is how much salary there will be from March reading

  • “It's hard to beat the cheekiness”: After seeing this, the customer asks Edeka to give her a written statement

  • Australians give up one thing and lose six kilos in a month

  • Telekom change affects existing customers: the streaming change should start in February

Oida wow: At Heidinger's Gasthaus in Vienna, schnitzels, in this case a cordon bleu, apparently have to be at least as big as the pan.

But there is also a bit of criticism involved.

A Cordon Bleu is “not a schnitzel”, and this is sometimes even referred to as a “schnitzel crime”.

A user also comes up with an amusing comparison.

“I recommend the baked goulash.

It has just as little to do with schnitzel as the cordon.”

Be that as it may, this doesn't change the price-performance ratio - and from what we hear, that seems to be more than good.

Or as it says in the posting: “It couldn’t be better”.

Does that also apply to the quite extravagant mixture of schnitzel and kebab?
