Annalucia Cecere, the woman accused of killing secretary Nada Cella in the office of accountant Marco Soracco in Chiavari on 6 May 1996, has been acquitted.

The latter and his elderly mother Marisa Bacchioni were also acquitted.

Cecere was accused of voluntary manslaughter aggravated by cruelty and frivolous motives.

Soracco and his mother Marisa Bacchioni had to answer for false statements to the prosecutor and aiding and abetting: according to the prosecution they lied during the interrogations carried out up to a month ago.

Cecere, according to prosecutor Gabriella Dotto, would have killed Nada "for reasons of resentment and jealousy towards the victim (due to the position she occupied within Soracco's office and her closeness to him)".

Soracco and his mother, the flying squad investigators claim, lied several times.

The prosecutor's office could appeal.
