The Brazilian club Fluminense won its first Recopa Sudamericana, the equivalent of the European Super Cup, beating La Liga Quito 2-0 in the return match played at the Maracana.
Fluminense managed to overturn a 1-0 first-leg defeat in Ecuador last week thanks to a brace from Colombian Jhon Arias in the second half.
The match pits the winner of the Copa Libertadores, won in 2023 by four-time champion Brazil (the last time in 2012), and the Copa Sudamericano, Quito.
