The head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell denounced yesterday evening "a new carnage" and "totally unacceptable" victims after the death announced by Hamas of 112 people during an aid distribution in Gaza which ended in chaos.
“I am horrified by reports of further massacres among Gaza civilians who were desperate for humanitarian aid,” Borrell wrote in X. “These deaths are completely unacceptable,” said the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and safety.
According to Hamas, 112 Palestinians were killed and 760 others injured yesterday when a crowd rushed a food aid convoy in Gaza city.
The Palestinian Islamic movement claims that the Israeli army opened fire on the people, while Israel recognizes "limited fire" on the part of the soldiers who felt "threatened", ensuring that most of those killed were in a situation of chaos.
"Depriving people of humanitarian aid is a serious violation" of international humanitarian law, Borrell said.
"Unhindered humanitarian access to Gaza must be guaranteed," added the head of European diplomacy.
