Global energy-related CO2 emissions rose 1.1% in 2023, reaching a record high, largely due to low hydroelectric production caused by drought and China's growth: says a report from the International Energy Agency. Energy (Aie).
These emissions, which account for about 90% of the carbon dioxide emitted by humans, increased by 410 million tons, reaching 37.4 billion tons last year.
But the trend does not appear to be as bad as the previous year, when emissions increased by 490 million tons in 2022.
