In 2023 the Italian economy recorded growth of 0.9%.
This was announced by Istat.
The estimate released on January 30th based on quarterly surveys instead indicated an increase in GDP of 0.7%.
The data released today is higher than the Nadef forecast which set GDP growth in 2023 at 0.8%.
The deficit-GDP ratio instead stood at 7.2%, compared to 8.6% in 2022. Nadef's forecasts were for a deficit of 5.3% of GDP.
Finally, the tax burden remained unchanged at 42.5%.
