What emerges from the Airbnb inItalia research: the numbers of the Jfc phenomenon, which ANSA publishes in preview.

The 608 thousand Airbnb accommodations available in Italy have a different impact on the various cities and territories.

To evaluate the level of sustainability that a territory can support, JFC has identified an index (Rhr) which represents the ratio between the number of residents and the quantity of accommodation on Airbnb.

Considering a sustainability index of 1 as the maximum value (at a national level this index is equal to 1.03), the region with the highest one is Valle d'Aosta (4.26 but strongly influenced by the small number of residents), followed from Sardinia (3.25), Tuscany (2.14) and Liguria, with a value of 2.00.

Trentino Alto Adige, Sicily, Puglia and Umbria are also positioned above the maximum value.

It is certainly even more interesting to examine the sustainability index of individual destinations, in order to understand how much the "Airbnb phenomenon" affects cities and historic centres.

No surprise that Florence has a very high index, equal to 3.81, and Venice is close with 3.67.

Followed by Naples (1.36) and Rome (1.13) but still above the maximum sustainable value.

Positive index instead in Palermo with 0.67.
