In February, according to preliminary Istat estimates, inflation on an annual basis remains stable.
The national consumer price index for the entire community (Nic), including tobacco, increased by 0.1% on a monthly basis and by 0.8% on an annual basis (as in the previous month).
In January it had increased by 0.3% on a monthly basis.
The decline in underlying inflation continues: in February the index net of energy and fresh food decelerated from +2.7% to +2.4% and that net of energy goods only from +3.0% to +2.7%. The inflation acquired for 2024 is equal to +0.5% for the general index and +1.1% for the underlying component.
In Eurostat's flash estimate, euro area inflation in February fell to 2.6% compared to 2.8% in January.
