Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni

is

at the White House

in Washington for the meeting with United States President Joe Biden.

"The crisis in the Middle East is our concern -

said the Prime Minister during the meeting with President Biden in the Oval Office

-, we must coordinate actions to avoid an escalation, and we fully support the mediation effort of the United States. The crisis humanitarian is our number one priority, Italy has concentrated its contribution on this."

"We work for a concrete and substantial G7. We intend to reaffirm an international order based on rules, defending freedom."

"

The humanitarian crisis is the number one priority

- added Meloni -, while we cooperate with all the actors in the region we must work together to ensure concrete steps to guarantee the perspective of two peoples and two States, which is the only long-term solution sustainable".

"I'm happy that Giorgia is back, we have a lot to discuss," said Joe Biden in the meeting with the Italian prime minister.

"We need a global alliance against human traffickers", the Prime Minister then stated.

"The G7 will also pay particular attention to the African continent, Africa is not a poor continent, on the contrary it has important human and natural resources but has been exploited with a predatory approach - said Meloni -. I want to reverse this approach together with you, and it is also a response to the migration crisis. We must support the development of Africa and put an end to illegal migration and human trafficking. Human trafficking has become the most profitable criminal financial activity globally and we cannot accept this That's why I come here today with a proposal for a global alliance against human trafficking."

"I gave my contribution to strengthening relations between Italy and the USA by marrying an Italian American", Biden joked at the end of his conversation.
