There will be at least 3,500 federal agents who will be part of the security device put in place around Parliament in view of the speech that President Javier Milei will give this evening in front of the Chambers gathered on the occasion of the inauguration of the legislative year.

The access to the streets surrounding the building will also be closed and will be cordoned off starting from today's morning and, if necessary, another 1,500 Buenos Aires police officers will be ready.

The massive deployment of forces is linked to the announcement of protests called for today in front of Parliament by opposition parties, left-wing organizations and social movements.

The government, through the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, has already warned that it will implement the anti-picketing protocol which does not allow protesters to block road transit and that disorder will not be tolerated.

In any case, the atmosphere will be warm even within the hemicycle, taking into account that Milei has started an open clash with Parliament which scuttled his package of laws on privatization and deregulation in January.

The ultra-liberal leader recently stated that the House and Senate are a "rat's nest" and that he can govern even without the support of the legislative power.
