New crackdown on the import of Russian diamonds by the EU, in coordination with the G7.
As we learn from EU Presidency sources, indirect restrictions on imports have come into force within the G7 framework since March.
A gradual ban on the import of Russian diamonds from third countries will be introduced.
Starting today, "all Russian rough or polished diamonds from one carat upwards, or worked in third countries, will therefore be banned from the G7 market, including the EU, in particular as regards mined Russian diamonds that have been transformed into polished stones" , the sources explain.
