After the heavy snowfalls that affected the mountains of Piedmont, the Piedmontese speleological mountain rescue "wants to spread a message of caution to all enthusiasts who intend to practice activities on the snow over the weekend".
"In recent days - explains the mountain rescue team - the avalanche bulletins issued by Arpa Piemonte have already reported situations of high danger, up to 4 on a scale of 5, which will presumably be confirmed - if not further exacerbated - for the weekend due to the intense rainfall still expected ".
"After a winter lacking in snowfalls - explains Luca Giaj Arcota, SASP president - ski mountaineering, freeriding and snowshoeing enthusiasts have a great desire to take advantage of the freshly fallen snow. Unfortunately, the avalanche danger still requires a few days of extreme caution while waiting for the snow cover to Our technicians, as always, are ready for any eventuality such as the avalanche dog units operating in the air rescue bases. However, it is necessary to avoid putting yourself in dangerous situations and always carry with you the life-saving tools i.e. shovel, probe and artva. We invite you to check carefully the next avalanche bulletins and to ask mountain professionals or refugee workers for information before venturing along any snow-covered itinerary. Likewise, it is preferable to avoid off-piste in ski resorts".
