It was an angry and at the same time unexpected reaction from a 15-year-old student from Crispiano (Taranto) who attacked a 55-year-old teacher who had scolded him as he left the Elsa Morante hotel school.

The episode, which ended up being investigated by the police, occurred late last Wednesday morning.

According to what was learned, the boy had hit the professor's car with his backpack and the latter had asked him to pay more attention.

Under the astonished gaze of those present, the student lashed out at the teacher, hitting him with kicks and punches and causing him to fracture his humerus.

The prognosis for the teacher, who was transported to the San Pio hospital in Castellaneta, is 30 days.

The mayor of Crispiano, Luca Lopomo, expresses "solidarity with the professor" and calls for "exemplary punishment for the student" but also states that "we should all ask ourselves: institutions, ruling class and families, about the hardship experienced by children and education sometimes with bad examples that we set".

The attacked teacher was waiting for his wife, the teacher of the student who then punched him, at the school exit.

Passing by his car, the 15-year-old scratched it with his backpack.

The teacher asked him to be more careful but immediately afterwards he was overwhelmed by the boy who hit him and made him fall.

The professor will have to undergo surgery to reduce the fracture.

Crispiano's case could be discussed by the commission of inquiry for the fight against organized crime in the Puglia region.

The request was made by the group leader of the M5s Marco Galante who expressed "solidarity with the teacher" and "strongly condemned this act of violence".

Even the president of the same commission, Renato Perrini, advisor to the Brothers of Italy, spoke of a "disturbing episode. It is necessary to educate about legality - he added - to develop and spread the culture of civil values".

The news of yet another attack on a teacher comes as the government is preparing to launch a measure that imposes a fine of up to 10 thousand euros on students convicted of assaulting school staff.

In Puglia this is the third episode within a month.

At the beginning of February the director of the Europa-Dante Alighieri comprehensive institute in Taranto was beaten by the father of a child from the nursery school, while a few days later it was the headmaster of the Bozzini-Fasani institute in Lucera who was beaten by the mother of a 12 year old middle school student.
