From the minimalist ribbon to secure the ponytail or to braid in the hair to the veil bows to pin in the hair for a girlish look, from the opulent maxi-sized satin bow (which covers the entire head) to the architectural 'bow stacking' or the art of wearing several ribbons together on the head: ribbons are part of the outfit of the moment for hair with elegance and ease, as well as in the fashion accessories seen at fashion shows.
From veil ones to haberdashery ribbons, from online shopping for stocks of cheap bows or for individual pieces of excellent workmanship up to bow clips bearing the signature of fashion houses (the Chanel silk one costs over 600 euros) , this is the season of bowed hair and accessories pinned on the head.
All fabrics for bows are suitable: from veil to satin to silk, from velvet to denim and even leftover fabrics.
It is no coincidence that Pinterest has recorded a 162% increase in searches and predicts that "bow-stacking" - the art of wearing multiple bows together - will be one of the biggest trends of 2024, Elle UK recently reported.
Stylists have proposed them by combining them in many ways in the latest fashion shows: Giambattista Valli has focused on bows of gigantic proportions, ditto Chanel which offers an extra-large version to be worn on a low ponytail, while Dior has combined them with chignons.
“The bows are so versatile and loved, worn in the past by actresses renowned for their elegance, such as Brigitte Bardot and Catherine Deneuve and today by Tessa Thompson and Margot Robbie for example - comments Domenica Ricciardi, stylist of many Italian and international actresses.
– You can see lots of ribbons in your hair on the streets of Paris and London, tied in a creative way, in a braid, loose, with a single knot or pinned in a classic or truly original way.
They are a touch of timeless elegance and give an air of childish beauty to everyone."
The ribbons are the protagonists of this spring summer 2024, seen on the catwalks of Paris, New York and Milan.
"The wonderful Jennifer Lopez on the Paris catwalks wore a velvet bow, worn on the side of the head, by Elie Saab and a very elegant black bow by Valentino. The ribbons - continues Ricciardi - are delicate and fun, the velvet ones are super chic and complete an evening look. The smaller ones can be fastened together, even in groups of 3 or 4. The satin ones in a thousand colors are suitable for next summer, in short we can really indulge ourselves, even to be combined with flower brooches that I often choose for my actresses on the red carpet. They are a return to the most exasperated femininity or to the world of childhood."
Accessories for the head return with the bows, such as bands, headbands, clips and pegs of the 'duck bill' type with colored plate or with flowers also in the XXL version (the black color is elegant but there are also bright versions), perhaps worn in a row next to each other on the side of the head.
Furthermore, the elastic bands, also in the new chic versions with metal buckles with a bracelet effect and in the oversized version covered in fabric to have a scarf effect.
Finally, the maxi-sized clips, like the old clip.
