With his latest novel “Rain” Ferdinand von Schirach once again made it onto the Spiegel bestseller list.
This shouldn't have been a big surprise for most Schirach fans, after all, his earlier works were all successful on the book market.
The German writer and criminal defense lawyer mainly writes legal stories about crime and guilt.
He is known for his very precise and confident writing style.
Ferdinand von Schirach “Crime”
In 2009, the qualified lawyer published his first book “Crime” and abruptly won the Kleist Prize.
The volume of stories includes eleven short stories based on cases from his law firm.
Although it is written very objectively, even to a layperson it does not read as complicated or dry.
On the contrary, the book is kept very entertaining and can be devoured in a short amount of time.
A successful start to the series of celebrated novels, plays and collections of short stories that followed.
Criminal lawyer and writer Ferdinand von Schirach regularly asks readers of his legal stories the question of guilt and innocence.

Ferdinand von Schirach “Taboo”
After further volumes of short stories and his first, international bestseller novel “The Collini Case”, his second novel “Tabu” followed in 2013.
Although this again deals with criminal offenses, Schirach allows us to look much more into the inner life of the protagonist.
The book therefore takes place less in court and more in the private life of the main character, the installation artist Sebastian von Eschburg.
Based on his life story and the sudden accusation of having killed a young woman, Schirach repeatedly confronts his readers with the question of guilt and innocence.

Ferdinand von Schirach “Terror”
Schirach's first piece for the theater was published in 2015.
With “Terror” the writer shows once again how difficult it can be to try a crime.
Especially if it is not based on a malicious crime, but rather on weighing up an extremely complex decision to the best of one's knowledge and belief.
An Air Force fighter pilot is on trial for shooting down a plane that was hijacked by terrorists, contrary to the orders of his superiors.
