Created in 2016 at the initiative of the Ministry of the Economy and Finance, the ISR label (for “socially responsible investment”) is supposed to allow savers to identify funds (sicav, mutual funds, etc.) which favor listed companies with virtuous and sustainable practices.
However, this label seemed to be far too easy to obtain.
It has been recast.
When does the reform come into force?
As of March 1, funds invested in stocks and bonds, as well as money market funds, wishing to be SRI labeled, are subject to new certification rules.
Those who have already obtained the French label will have until January 1, 2025 to comply if they do not want to lose it.
Three certification companies, Afnor, Ernst & Young and Deloitte, will keep an eye on things.
Why such a redesign?
Of the approximately 12,000 funds marketed in France, 1,200 have received this label, the level of requirements being far too modest.
