Bilateral meeting in Toronto between Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau,

who a week ago were together in Kiev for the second anniversary of the war in Ukraine.

After the tête-à-tête between the two leaders on the nineteenth floor of the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, the meeting, organized to share the priorities of the Italian presidency of the G7, will be extended to include delegations.

A press point by the Prime Minister is expected around 9pm Italian time.

In front of the hotel, a sit-in is underway by climate activists who, with placards and banners, are protesting Trudeau and the World Economic Forum.

said Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in the first moments of the bilateral meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in Toronto.

"There are many results of the Japanese presidency of the G7 that I will carry forward with the Italian presidency, on artificial intelligence, on the Indo-Pacific, on support for Ukraine, and then there is the Middle Eastern crisis, very difficult: we need to talk a lot , we must avoid the escalation of the conflict, and I also discussed this yesterday with President Joe Biden" the prime minister reiterated.

The reception organized by the Canadian government at the Art Gallery of Ontario, with representatives of the Italian community in Toronto and Canadian institutional representatives

, is open to the press (from 6.30 pm local time, half past midnight in Italy) ,

The time of Meloni's meeting with the press, anticipated yesterday by Palazzo Chigi, is still being defined.
