"Chico Forti's return to Italy is an important and long-awaited goal achieved thanks to the authoritative personal commitment of President Giorgia Meloni. My offices will work to comply, in the shortest possible time, with all the necessary technical steps within the competence of the Ministry of Justice and which I had spoken about with the Attorney General, M. Garland, during his visit to the Department of Justice in Washington in November".
Justice Minister Nordio said in a note.
"We hope that all the other steps, which involve, among other things, the judicial authorities, can be completed in the shortest possible time to allow Forti to continue serving his sentence in his country, close to his loved ones. ", he concludes.

Thus Roberto Salis, father of Ilaria who has been detained for over a year in Budapest, commented to ANSA on the transfer of Chico Forti from the United States to an Italian prison to finish serving his sentence.
"I am of the opinion that the famous 2,500 cases of Italians detained abroad must all be addressed on a case-by-case basis - continues the 39-year-old's father - Therefore, focusing case by case on the most urgent and serious ones, paying the utmost attention, results can be obtained as happened in the case of Chico Forti."
