Baby gorilla Jameela looks at the world with huge googly eyes.
After a difficult birth, her mother couldn't take care of her.
The nurses will now take care of that.
The Fort Worth Zoo in Texas celebrated the birth of a baby gorilla on January 5th.
Particularly emotional: the newborn and its mother survived a stressful and life-threatening birth.
Baby Jameela was born four to five weeks early via an “emergency cesarean section”.
The first one the zoo has ever conducted, staff announced on the website and Instagram.
A baby donkey was also born much too early.

Normally, mom Sekani wasn't supposed to give birth to her fourth baby until mid-February.
But then she was seen sulking in her enclosure - with her head in her hands.
She was diagnosed with preeclampsia, a serious blood pressure disorder that can occur during pregnancy in both humans and primates.
To save Sekani and give the baby the best chance of survival, she underwent immediate surgery.
Animal keepers wear cozy vests especially for Jameela
Jameela's life was at stake shortly after birth - she was immediately put on the ventilator, as shown in heartbreaking pictures of the tiny creature on Instagram.
Both she and her mother received around-the-clock care until they both fully recovered.
But unfortunately, Sekani did not show the necessary maternal signs to care for her premature baby.
Unlike a mare kicking her newborn foal to get it to stand up.
Zoo staff and animal keepers took on this task over the last five weeks and looked after her very touchingly.
The video of an orphaned baby chimpanzee hugging its rescuer is also heartbreaking.

Thanks to the careful care, the baby gorilla is developing splendidly.
And there may soon be a replacement mother for her - the prospect is 24-year-old gorilla Gracie, who already has babies of her own.
The staff strongly believe that she can become a good surrogate mother for the newborn.
