The PSE congress approved by acclamation the candidacy of the current European Commissioner for Labor, Nicolas Schmit, for the next European elections as future leader of the EU Commission.
"The
best response to the far right
is what we have done and accomplished, it is our vision and our positive project for Europe, so that every citizen and every child has a better life. The far right proposes nothing : only hatred and destruction of Europe".
This was stated by the socialist candidate for the next European elections and current European Commissioner for Labour, Nicolas Schmit, while conversing with journalists on the sidelines of the PSE congress, which is taking place at the Nuvola all'Eur in Rome
.
"As happens in Pisa, the freedom of our young people to demonstrate in safety is repressed. I am with President Mattarella, with the boys the truncheons express a failure. We must stand together against the far right".

Gentiloni: 'Jobs have increased but not wages'

"Taxation has a role to finance our objectives and for a more equitable order: it is important to rebalance the burden of taxes between capital and labour. Europe needs to reduce inequalities, a law that allows us to do this" .

At the PSE congress tribute to Napolitano, Delors and Ahtisaari
Tribute to Giorgio Napolitano, Gacques Delors and Martti Ahtisaari at the PSE congress underway in Rome, with a minute of silence and a video that remembered "three European socialist leaders".
The video was introduced by PSE general secretary Giacomo Filibeck, who presides over the Congress, who greeted Napolitano's son, Giulio, present in the room.
