Since December, neighbors have reported an increase in robberies ranging from objects in the street to entering houses with weapons. They denounce that the municipality's measures are only "patches" and this Tuesday they will hold a march to demand greater security.

More than

1,300 residents of the Ramos Mejía town

, in the municipality of La Matanza, report that they are experiencing a wave of insecurity and lack of attention from the municipality.

This Tuesday they will hold a march to ask for greater security.

"There are 5 to 6 robberies a day," says Mariano Zuccarello, who mentions that he speaks on behalf of all these neighbors who have decided to protest to stop the wave of crimes they suffer.

He says that since December they have been experiencing these robberies that have become

chronic

.

"They steal anything that can be sold."

He stated that the thefts range from sewers, grates, to motorcycles and cars.

He also refers to house robberies to take all valuable belongings of neighbors.

According to the information the Police gave them, "the criminals are people from other neighborhoods who arrive on the train and pose as cartoneros or neighbors to commit the crimes."

"Those who steal water and gas meters disguise themselves as cartoneros, we have videos where they can be seen."

He added that in the neighborhood they know that there are some people who steal, but they usually do it without violence, but recently they identified robberies in which the criminals used a lot of violence.

"There are bands that come from Ciudad de Evita and Villegas," Zuccarello said.

The criminals stay inside the house for at least 3 minutes, beat the family and flee with what was stolen.

Ramos Mejía's neighbor shared with

Clarín

videos of an attempted robbery and a break-in that occurred last weekend.

The first was on Friday at 9:34 p.m. on Illia and Santa María avenues.

Two criminals tried to steal the motorcycle of a young man who was passing by the place.

Even though they were armed, the boy managed to evade them and escape.

The second incident happened this Sunday at 10:57 p.m. on Granaderos Street.

In this case, five armed criminals approached a family that was entering their home.

They remain inside the house for three minutes and then leave to escape in a white car, according to the security camera video.

According to Zuccarello's story, the criminals in this second case beat the family and stole valuables.

He highlights that the support of the Police is not enough.

"We do not see prevention, although we see

patches

, we do not see that police control is operational," he mentions.

Neighbors claim that patrols usually appear

after a crime has occurred

, but they do not notice that there are patrols to prevent these criminal acts.

Given the wave of growing insecurity, neighbors meet week after week to complain about this difficult situation.

To confront this situation, more than

350 neighbors

organized to patrol the streets and thus prevent more robberies.

Other measures they took are neighborhood alarms and security cameras.

For this Tuesday at 7 p.m. they plan a march to the Tablada Brandsen shopping center to meet with municipal delegates and other authorities.

They invite you to go with pots or pans.
