The company in charge of the restoration work of the
Flag Monument
, national symbol and symbol of the city of Rosario, stopped the works due to
lack of payments
from the Ministry of Public Works of the Nation.
Through a statement, the company
Dyscon SA
reported "the neutralization of the work deadlines" due to the
delay in payments
, since, as they explain, the last certificate paid corresponds to August 2023, with values from April of that year.
"The Dyscon team reaffirmed its commitment, both to the national, provincial and municipal authorities and to the people of Rosario, to carry out the correct execution and completion of the work, under the terms of the existing contract between the firm and the national government, represented in that moment by the Ministry of Public Works," the company indicated, stressing that it will work "on the development of possible solutions for both parties."
The enhancement of the Flag Monument was announced in June 2015 by former president Cristina Kirchner.
Since then the works have suffered several ups and downs.
They were paralyzed after some progress in eight years.
In 2019, they separated the Creaurban firm, in charge of the work.
In April 2023 they had started again with the aim of finally completing them, but climatic difficulties and the lack of payments within the established times put a brake on it.
This is how the Flag Monument was in full restoration work, in Rosario.
The idea of the Nation was to inaugurate the works on the Flag Monument
on June 20
, in an event with President Javier Milei, although with this stoppage of the works everything is on hold.
The purpose of the works is to enhance the Monument, with cleaning work on the façade, general improvements to the sculptures and waterproofing of surfaces.
But now they are on hold, due to the payment arrears of the previous government and in the midst of the announcement of the stoppage of public works.
