“Extraordinary” on Disney +: a season 2 as brilliant as ever

2024-03-06T18:26:04.328Z

Highlights: “Extraordinary’s” heroine is the only one not to have a supernatural gift. Mairead Tyers, Sofia Oxenham, Luke Rollason and Bilal Hasna star. The conclusion of this season 2 leaves you speechless and makes you impatient for a sequel that has not yet been made official. We must therefore cross our fingers that season 3 sees the light of day, “Extra extraordinary” being resolutely one of the best current comedies on the small screen.

The superhero comedy whose heroine is the only one not to have a supernatural gift still manages to surprise by multiplying the situations

It was the surprise of the start of 2023. Not at all expected, the “Extraordinary” series has established itself as a British gem on the Disney + platform.

The fiction takes place in a world where every human develops a superpower from the age of 18.

However, Jen, at over 25 years old, is still nothing extraordinary.

This anti-heroine, however, does not despair and finally manages at the start of season 2, the eight episodes of which are available from this Wednesday, March 6, to register at a clinic that will allow her to access a supernatural gift.

With the help of a professional guide, Jen enters her own mind in search of the blockage causing her lack of power.

This gives rise to some brilliant sequences in a huge convoluted library that looks like a happy mess.

Furthermore, the heroine is now in a relationship with Échacule, her cat who turned out to be a man with the power to transform into a small feline.

But he has just realized that, in his previous life, which he has forgotten everything about, he had a wife and a son.

Jen is also still roommates with her two best friends, Carrie and Kash, who have just broken up.

Humor and accuracy

These new episodes are therefore an opportunity to explore the feeling of love, the consequences of a breakup, rivalry between women, and the notion of parenthood.

So many subjects addressed with fantastic humor, derision but also a lot of accuracy.

This is the great success of “Extraordinary”: making people scream with laughter while not forgetting to be relevant.

The colorful universe, both in the sets and in the costumes, is another asset of this flamboyant series which is not shy.

To deliver the haute couture dialogues, the actors compete in talent.

We love Mairead Tyers as much as Jen, more lost than ever in her personal quest, as Luke Rollason as the hilarious catman.

Sofia Oxenham and Bilal Hasna, respectively Carrie and Kash, are not left out.

The second is notably at the heart of an absolutely astonishing part of the final part.

The conclusion of this season 2 leaves you speechless and makes you impatient for a sequel that has not yet been made official.

We must therefore cross our fingers that season 3 sees the light of day, “Extraordinary” being resolutely one of the best current comedies on the small screen.
