The tension between the Campania Region and the Municipality of Naples is worsening on the issue of relations with the Government.
In the face of the very tough tug of war that the governor Vincenzo De Luca has initiated with the executive, in particular with the minister Fitto, for the release of development and cohesion funds, the mayor Gaetano Manfredi has long renewed the invitation to "institutional dialogue".
A position criticized by the number two of the Region, the vice-president of the Council Fulvio Bonavitacola, who today in an article in the newspaper Il Mattino asks Manfredi to "combine the constructive appeal with a clear position on the serious responsibilities of the ministry and the Government".
"Politics - according to De Luca's right-hand man - thrives on confrontation but there are moments in which inevitable conflicts arise, moments in which it is necessary to take clear positions to form a common front against the enemies of Campania and the South".
A call to which Manfredi responded today, maintaining his own line: "Each institution must dialogue with the other. The institutions have different political expressions and it is natural that this happens. In Bassolino's time there was a Government with an opposite plan and there is It was an important dialogue. We must think about the good of the citizens and the city, not our own."
In the evening Bonavitacola's harsh rejoinder: "The mayor of Naples continues to make - without having the right - ridiculous elections of institutional procedure, offending the work and dignity of those who with enormous patience and tenacity try to defend our communities, offering alibis to government representatives who they do not know how to respect the most basic democratic rules. Everyone is free to adopt behaviors that they have the strength and dignity to support. But it is absolutely intolerable to have to listen to sermons that only serve to hide opportunistic behavior."
