Berlin – More and more people are eating at least some vegan or vegetarian diets.

Anyone who avoids consuming meat should now be careful when shopping.

A current recall concerns a vegan minced product, which is a cooperation between KoRo and Rügenwalder Mühle.

It was only in February that KoRo recalled a candy nationwide.

Germany-wide recall started – There is a risk of salmonella with vegan products

The recall relates to the product “Vegan Mills Hack Mix and Ready” with the best-before date of January 31, 2025.

The manufacturer announced this in a press release.

“It cannot be ruled out that the products from the affected batch contain salmonella,” it says specifically.

If prepared correctly - i.e. heating the product before consumption - there is no risk.

However, the company strongly advises against consumption.

KoRo and Rügenwalder Mühle are recalling a joint vegan product.

The vegan mince was available in retail stores throughout Germany.

Consumers could buy the product in the following branches:

  • Rewe

  • Edeka

  • globe

  • Großer Kern GmbH

Danger of salmonella: The symptoms of salmonellosis at a glance

Salmonella are “bacteria whose metabolites can trigger acute intestinal inflammation, salmonellosis, in humans.”

The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BLV) provides information about this.

Salmonellosis is a classic food infection, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).

Acute intestinal inflammation can be accompanied by sudden onset of diarrhea as well as headaches and abdominal pain.

Malaise, vomiting and a slight fever are also common.

Anyone who has purchased the “Vegan Mills Hack Mix and Ready” can return it either on site or online.

For the latter, customers would simply have to send an email to support@korodrogerie.de with the subject “Recall KoRo Vegan Mill Hack”.

The best-before date must be visible on an attached photo.

Another meat product was recently recalled from Rewe.

There was a risk of internal injuries.
