Special promotions from Lidl cause long queues in many places.

Is it worth it or not?

Opinions differ.

Gunzenhausen – There are various little-known tricks that you can use to save money when shopping.

For example, did you know that at Kaufland, if you look closely, you will be rewarded with a voucher?

Or that Lidl sometimes has something to give away and you should keep a watchful eye behind the checkout?

Lidl is now also affected by a supposed insider tip reported by a Facebook user.

According to her own information, she is actually an event stylist, but documented her shopping trip in a reel.

Lidl customer reports on special sale – “It’s definitely worth going early”

The key word is “warehouse sale” – or as Lidl itself calls it “special sale”.

The user writes: “Some of you had never heard of it.” She did, but she had never been there before.

“It’s definitely worth going earlier.

Since we were there right at the opening time, we obviously didn't get that much." She was at the event in Gunzenhausen (Bavaria).

The recordings cannot be verified, but a Lidl special sale actually took place in Gunzenhausen on March 1st and 2nd, starting at 9 a.m.

The video shows an enormous queue at the gates of Lidl.

The discount chain can only cope with this rush with a special system.

“The way it worked was that everyone had to line up and a guard was let in.

Then every single person who came out had to empty their shopping cart.” The shopping cart was then passed on to the next person.

“You weren’t allowed in without a shopping cart.”

This is what it is supposed to have looked like during the Lidl special sale.

Lidl customer is rewarded for stress with bargains – “I would advise leaving children at home”

Special sales at Lidl?

In fact, not all consumers are likely to know about this.

The dates are listed on the Lidl homepage.

On March 6th, around 20 were performed across Germany for the period between March 6th and 9th.

The campaigns usually last two or three days.

This sentence from the Facebook user makes it clear that things are quite turbulent there: “I would advise you to leave your children at home.

I had to take my little one with me because she was sick.”

According to her own statements, the Lidl customer was rewarded for her perseverance.

“At the end of the day we took an excavator with us for small children, a tractor with a trailer for 20 euros, a swing (which is also suitable for adults) for 20 euros.

I took duvets from Dunlop for 10 euros each and lots of bed linen, toddler clothes, boots and garden furniture.”

The photo on the right is said to come from Großbeeren (Brandenburg), where there were reports of an alleged 200 meter snake in January.

On the left is a screenshot from the video that is said to have been recorded in Gunzenhausen.

Lidl special sale: Many advise against it – “I immediately turned back”

So she draws a positive conclusion from her trip.

That sounds much less euphoric to others.

Negative comments have been piling up since January under a post on

Mydealz.de

, which has been drawing attention to the Lidl special sales for a few weeks now.

“I can only advise you to avoid the sales unless you want to get up very early and wait in line for several hours.

In the end, you still hardly get any usable things because, for example, resellers stand at the front with several people and huge bags and are the first to run through the store to pack up all the electronics or other high-priced items," says one user and writes further details, which of course are unconfirmed.

Others also report about “professionals” who quickly pick up the really good pieces.

Another customer experienced “pure chaos” at a special sale and said: “Forget it, I was there and turned back.” One person reported about Neu-Ulm: “You can forget that.

Long queue in front of the store.

Narrow streets through the store.

You can only slide through the flow of people.

The last third is queuing at the checkout.

Once and never again.” A bargain sale in Bremen once escalated and resulted in a police operation.

And sheer madness reigned in Kassel more than ten years ago.

There are also positive reports, for example from Bamberg: “I was there by chance a few months ago and thought it was ok.

Quite well attended.

As far as I can tell, bargains were possible (I only bought small things myself)." Another person got real bargains two hours before closing, again reduced, and shows his haul.

“Much of what is left has been radically reduced again.

Lots of decorative things between 0.10 and 1 euro.

However, many things from Friday were no longer there.

It was still worth it.”

Is Lidl special sale worth it?

“Totally overcrowded, just junk, endless queues, never again”

But many MyDealz users don't want to repeat their experiences: “Was in Albstadt today.

Totally overcrowded, just junk, endless queues, never again,” said one comment, and another: “Weissensee hasn't been moving forward for ten minutes.

The way I see it, you have to plan on waiting at least an hour and then there won't be much good left.

Once you get in, you go out again because the store is full and the cash registers are so full that you can't get out again in less than 1-2 hours.”

In a comment from the end of January it says with two photos: “Today in Großbeeren at 8.30 a.m. there was a queue of around 200 meters.” The queue was only partly worth it for the person: “Unfortunately everything was gone.

I only bought two Scooters Big Roll for 40 euros for both.

I heard that people were there at 6 a.m. If you believe the different reactions, you definitely need a certain sense of adventure to plunge into the Lidl special sales.

Plus getting up early – and not having too high expectations.

Even with regular offers, Lidl occasionally makes itself unpopular.
