One can argue about Liraz's age at that meeting and wonder why she didn't have an accompanying driver, but the red lights should have turned on already then.
After Alico asked Liraz out on a first date, she politely refused, explaining that she would not feel comfortable being seen with him in public.

To her horror, the date took place and the two said that they went on it even before Liraz turned 18, but Aliko "didn't check her ID".
