Vegetables can also be grown in an apartment without a balcony.
Some of them were probably the least on the radar.
Many people have the desire to grow their own vegetables.
However, very few people can afford a greenhouse or another area, such as a raised bed, where vegetables can grow.
However, the balcony at home is also well suited for cultivation.
But even if this doesn't exist, that's not a problem.
Numerous delicious and healthy vegetables can also be grown in your home, which you might not have even suspected at the moment.
A little tip: If there is not enough light in your apartment for the vegetables, we recommend getting an LED plant light.
1. Salad
Because they require comparatively little light and grow quickly, salads and leafy vegetables are ideal for passionate indoor gardeners.
To do this, you can, for example, plant the root ball of a lettuce bought in the supermarket together with a few leaves in the peat-free potting soil that is in a plant container with a hole at the bottom.
And the best thing: “The head of lettuce grows back again and again until it finally signals its approaching end by blooming,” explains indoor gardener Carolin Engwert to

o. After you have planted the lettuce, it needs to be sprayed regularly with a spray bottle be poured and covered with a transparent lid, which you must ventilate once a day.
It takes about three weeks from sowing to the first harvest.
Some types of vegetables – such as tomatoes here – can also be grown wonderfully on the windowsill at home.

2. Tomatoes
Vegetable fans without a balcony don't have to do without tomatoes, which cannot be placed next to every plant in the bed.
Remember: the smaller the tomato varieties, the less care they require.
Cherry or cocktail tomatoes are recommended, explains
Selbstversorger.de
.
The pot - with a capacity of between three and 20 liters depending on the size of the tomatoes - should be in a bright and sunny place, ideally facing south.
It should be between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius there.
After pricking out, the plants are transplanted into a pot with a drainage hole.
As a rule, the soil - but not the leaves - around the plant must be watered daily with lime-free, lukewarm water.
The use of liquid fertilizer is also required regularly.
After a few weeks, most tomato varieties are ready to harvest.

3. Radishes
Radishes are also a must on many people's menus.
To grow indoors, take several small pots - at least five centimeters in diameter - and fill them with mature compost.
Now put three seeds in each pot and cover them with about a centimeter of soil, recommends
Krautundrueben.de
.
Then place the pots in a cooler place - 16 to 18 degrees Celsius - where they still get three to four hours of light per day.
Without fertilizer, but with regular watering, you can harvest the radishes after five to six weeks.

4. Cucumbers
The nutritious green vegetable is very popular with young and old. To do this, you need to fill a large pot with small stones (as drainage), compost and potting soil.
Then plant four to five hybrid seeds (do not require pollination) twelve millimeters deep into the soil and leave enough space between the seeds.
Then water the soil thoroughly.
Place the pot in a suitable location; six hours of sun a day is ideal.
After the plants are around 80 millimeters tall, remove all but the two largest plants.
When the plants have grown to 25 centimeters high, remove the weaker one again so that the remaining one has enough space.
Important: Water your plant frequently to keep the soil moist.
5. Beans and peas
You can also easily grow beans in your home.
Above all, you need sun.
The vegetables are grown in a large flower box.
Place beans and peas in the soil and water them regularly.
Then you have to find a suitable place.
The plants need up to eight hours of sunlight a day.
Tip: Wooden sticks in the ground, for example, can be used wonderfully as climbing aids.
