"The commitment of women in the 118 territorial emergency system, as doctors, nurses and drivers-rescuers, is increasingly consistent, strenuous and decisive."
Mario Balzanelli, national president of the 118 System, comments thus in a note, underlining an increasingly leading role also in the emergency sector.
According to data obtained from reconnaissance carried out by the Sis 118 national management, women are mainly employed as doctors in the operations centers (53%) and in the Set 118 stations (44%), in the nursing professions (45%) and as driver-rescuers (28 %).
These data "prove the fact - concludes Balzanelli - that the high tensions, the frenetic pace, the great complexities and criticalities of the scenario and operational context that characterize the health emergency find in the female dimension full vocational space of welcome and extraordinary human fulfillment, as well as professional".
