Rafa Nadal will not play the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells.
The Spanish champion, expected in the American tournament, announced it on social media: "I can't lie to myself and thousands of fans" he wrote on Twitter.
He thus misses the first round against Milos Raonic, who will now have to face the Indian Sumit Nagal.
"You all know how much I love playing here, it's one of the reasons why I came very early to train and try to be ready - the words of Nadal, who had performed with Alcaraz in Las Vegas just approaching Indian Wells -. I I worked hard, I trained, I even tested myself this weekend, but I don't feel ready to play such an important tournament at the highest level. It's a difficult decision, I'll miss you."
