Step-by-step preparation: This is the best way to make an Italian apple pie
Preheat your oven to 180 degrees top/bottom heat.
Grease a springform pan and dust the pan with a little flour.
Peel the apples, core them and then cut them into thin slices.
Then drizzle the apple slices with the lemon juice.
This will prevent the apple pieces from turning brown.
Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat.
In a bowl, beat the eggs, sugar and a pinch of salt with a whisk until fluffy.
Stir in the melted butter.
Add the flour and baking powder through a sieve and mix together with the milk to form a smooth dough.
Finally fold in the apple slices.
Pour the finished dough into the prepared springform pan and bake on the middle rack for about 45 minutes until it turns golden brown.
Towards the end of the baking time, use a wooden stick to check whether the apple pie is baked through.
Dust the cooled cake with a little powdered sugar.
Which apples are best for the apple pie recipe
freund.de
recommends using tart apples, such as Braeburn or Granny Smith.
In general, cooking apples are best suited.
They taste sour when raw and develop their full aroma when baked.
When choosing apples, the most important thing is that they neither fall apart nor release too much liquid during baking.
Firm but not too juicy flesh is therefore recommended.
Other suitable apple varieties are Boskop, Jonagold or Elstar.
The Italian apple cake can also be refined as desired.
Cinnamon gives the classic a wintery touch, while coconut sprinkles as a topping make the apple cake a little more exotic.
