The Russian army allegedly arrested seven Indian citizens and forced them to fight in the war against Ukraine.



A video of the seven Indians was shared on social media, in which one of them can be heard appealing to the Indian government to return them safely.

The man also claimed that he, along with all the others, were forced to sign an agreement and were offered to work as cooks and drivers.



Meanwhile, the family of one of the Indians, from Gurdaspur district in Punjab, appealed to the government to bring their son back safely from Russia.

Speaking to India Today TV, Ravneet Singh's family said he and another man named Vikram obtained tourist visas by paying 11 lakh rupees to an agent, who promised them jobs.

The two arrived in Russia and were caught by the local police when they went on a tour.



The family also claimed that Russian forces arrested the two men and handed them over to army officers, who forcibly recruited them into the army to fight in Ukraine, during the war.

They signed an agreement they could not understand

Rabnit Singh's family said that they received a call from him and he would inform them about the sequence of events that led to their arrest.

He also claimed that both were required to sign an agreement that they could not understand due to language barriers.



Rabbi Singh said that several others, who had arrived in Russia earlier, were forced to fight in Ukraine against their will.



The Russia-Ukraine war entered its third year in February 2024. In recent months, Ukraine has stepped up attacks in the Black Sea and Crimea, which Russia seized and annexed in 2014.
