Lew thus responded to an observation submitted to him by a moderator during a debate organized by the Institute for Strategic Studies (INSS) in Tel Aviv.
''We must do everything we can to bring the hostages back,'' Lew said again, in one of his first public speeches in Israel since he took office four months ago.
