Storms
of
varying intensity will affect sectors of
nine provinces
in the north and center of the country in the next few hours.
For this reason, the
National Meteorological Service (SMN)
issued a series of
yellow level alerts
to warn the population.
The southern and southeastern areas of the province of Buenos Aires are among the areas covered.
What does a yellow alert mean?
This level anticipates the possibility of developing "meteorological phenomena with the potential for damage and risk of momentary interruption of daily activities," as explained by the official body on its website.
The areas contemplated within the SMN warning include the entire province of
Misiones
, the north and east of
Corrientes
, the south and west of
Chaco
, the north and center of
Santa Fe
, a large part of the territory of
Mendoza
, the south of
San Luis
, the entirety of
La Pampa
, the north of
Río Negro
and the south and part of the east of
Buenos Aires
.
All these sectors will be affected by storms, some locally strong.
They may be accompanied by intense gusts, significant electrical activity, occasional hail falls and mainly abundant falls of water in short periods.
Accumulated precipitation values are estimated between 30 and 70 mm, which may be exceeded occasionally.
