In January 2024, Italian industry producer prices fell by 1.7% on a monthly basis and by 10.7% on an annual basis (-16.0% on a yearly basis in December).
This was announced by Istat, according to which the drop in prices is essentially due to reductions in the energy sector.
On the domestic market, producer prices decreased by 2.5% compared to December and fell by 14.0% on an annual basis (from -20.5% in the previous month).
Net of the energy sector, prices decreased by 0.1% in economic terms and by 2.1% in trend terms (it was -1.5% in December).
On the foreign market, prices fell by 0.2% on a monthly basis (-0.3% euro area, 0.0% non-euro area) and by 1.5% on an annual basis (-2.0% euro area, -1.0% non-euro area).
