"Equal opportunities will be achieved when we stop emphasizing that she is the first woman who has achieved this or that objective, who has broken one of the many glass ceilings, and we will be able to celebrate not the recognition of exceptional merits, but of the more common ones. In short, when not there will be a need to be special, extraordinarily talented and particularly motivated, but it will be enough to have sufficient merits. As the American painter Grace Hartigan wrote: equality will be achieved when it is enough to be good, and not exceptional, to be appreciated and considered".
This was said by the Minister for Family, Birth and Equal Opportunities Eugenia Roccella during the celebration of International Women's Day which took place at the Quirinale.
