"Women's rights, gender equality, self-determination, equal pay are not yet a reality for everyone, on the contrary, we are witnessing a constant attack on already acquired rights. "We see a deep, deep-rooted, pervasive patriarchal model being consolidated - continues the union leader - just look at how much physical, psychological and economic violence against women still exists in the country. We especially see it, women and knowledge workers, in schools, professional training, academies, universities and research institutions, how the culture of disparity and prejudice is deeply rooted and difficult to eradicate".
"The quality of our democracy requires that the training of people is strongly oriented towards promoting a truly peaceful culture, against violence, for equality, for respect and valorisation of diversity, for education in dialogue as the main path for overcoming conflicts. The sectors of knowledge are confronted today with this horizon and this responsibility".
"It seems necessary to us, therefore, to allow the women and men we represent and who contribute every day to the education of future citizens of this country, to take to the streets with girls and boys and to participate in mobilization initiatives using the instrument of the strike and thus supporting the reasons and requests for an 8 March of struggle", concludes Fracassi.
