“Rude, disgusting, drunk”

Until then, the 26-year-old man had not had much respect for Serge Gainsbourg, Charlotte's father who died in 1991. "I found him rude, disgusting, an alcoholic," he declared bluntly.

Jordane Crantelle's husband admitted to never being really interested in his grandfather's songs, knowing only two songs from his immense repertoire, and "flicking" the channel when he heard the latter somewhere.

However, since he was taken on the mission of deputy director of the Gainsbourg house, alongside his mother, Ben Attal is finally starting to change his mind.

“I am rediscovering this gentleman, whom I have always hated,” he continued.

During my rounds at the museum, I come face to face with him on the videos.

Quite funny, it's true, and well dressed..."

In addition to the legacy of his complicated grandfather, Ben Attal also experienced some disagreements with his mother.

He and Charlotte Gainsbourg, the two worked together in the cinema, notably on My Stupid Dog and on Human Things, two films directed by Yvan Attal.

“For years, we were at war and now we see each other every day, it’s funny.

She doesn’t even pick up when I call anymore because she knows I’m going to talk to her about work.”

Ultimately, Ben Attal takes his role very seriously.
