Citizens' allowance and other social benefits are constantly discussed.
They are also a constant topic on the RTL Zwei program “Hartz und Herzlich”.
Munich – Only some of the citizens’ benefit recipients in Germany are unable to work.
Some of them can probably go to work, but don't want to.
The 54-year-old Dieter in the show “Hartz und Herzen” does a job at the job center, but is not entirely happy with it.
“It’s not the real thing” – job center measure not for social welfare recipients
The RTL Zwei program “Hartz and warmly” is currently in its eighth season.
54-year-old Dieter and his wife Carmen have also been there for a few years and also have many fans on social media.
While the couple and their children constantly suffer from money worries, 53-year-old Carmen also suffers from type 2 diabetes. Carmen doesn't work; she looks after the school-age children.
In order to earn a little extra money, 54-year-old Dieter takes part in a job center program.

In his work, Dieter carries out caretaker work in public buildings and is also active in street cleaning.
The 54-year-old receives 2.80 euros an hour for his work, but he is still not happy with that.
“I have to be honest: what I do is not the real thing.
“It’s not quite what I imagined,” says Dieter.
He hopes that he will be able to reorient himself again in the coming weeks, but his job center contact is currently ill.
“Hartz und cordial” participant would like a truck driving license
As 54-year-old Dieter reports in the latest episode of “Hartz und Herzen”, he would ideally like to get a truck driving license.
However, this dream has remained unfulfilled so far because he simply cannot afford it.
But Dieter doesn’t want to continue his current work for long: “I’ll only do it until I get another opportunity.
I don’t enjoy it.” Dieter has been looking for work for three years now.
Despite getting up early, everything isn't bad about his job center job, says Dieter: "I earn a little money there, see my colleagues and can talk to them a little." Whether the 54-year-old can get a new job remains to be seen show the next episodes.
Until then, the 54-year-old will continue with his current job.
Another participant in the RTL Zwei program complained that he earned less at his new job than at the job center.
