“It will be a visual spectacle, a story told through paintings and songs, obviously, the songs that everyone is waiting for.
» In front of the main stage of the Millésium in Épernay (Marne) where the nine singers and 31 dancers of “10 Commandments – The desire to love” rehearse, the director Giuliano Peparini thus summarizes his own vision of the flagship musical show of the 2000s unveiled this Saturday evening.
Almost twenty-four years ago, the first version triumphed for months, gathered nearly 1.8 million spectators and revealed Daniel Levi, who died in 2022, and a very young Yael Naim.
For this new production, after a little over two weeks of work in Italy, the troupe moved to Épernay at the end of February where they rehearse continuously.
Over the past few days, the elements worked separately have been gradually assembled to pass the stage test.
And two days before the premiere, there are still a myriad of details to be ironed out.
“David
(Lempell, who plays Ramses)
, when you start, put weight on your legs, it’s like you have roots on the stairs”;
“Don’t move your arms”;
“Don’t look at each other, you’re not singing together”… From his table, Giuliano Peparini supervises these final rehearsals.
