It is not only in France that “Anatomy of a Fall” by Justine Triet, in the running this Sunday, March 10 in five categories at the Oscars (including best film), works in theaters (more than 1.7 million entries to date).
Released in October in the United States, the film passed the $5 million mark in revenue this weekend, a very good score for a feature film by a foreign director.
It has been accumulating new entries for several weeks, thanks to the “Oscars season” where, in Los Angeles in particular, the nominated films are once again screened in cinemas.
Every day, between two and fifteen sessions of “Anatomy of a Fall” are scheduled in different rooms.
In this gigantic city, where sites showing art-house films in the city center are becoming increasingly rare, feature films are mainly shown in more or less eccentric multiplexes.
On Saturday, on the eve of the ceremony, fourteen screenings of the film were distributed across as many theaters.
To get closest to the Dolby Theater, where the ceremony will be held this Sunday, we had to take the highway and drive 7 miles (11 km) before reaching the Regal cinema in North Hollywood (here they say "NoHo ), located in a brand new shopping center.
