The President of the Republic announced in an interview with the newspapers La Croix and Libération, published on Sunday, that a bill for “assisted dying” under “strict conditions” will be presented to the Council of Ministers next April.
Before the publication of this interview, in which he details his orientations regarding the end of life, the Head of State thanked the members of the citizens' convention on the end of life for their work on Sunday.

The citizens' convention wanted by Emmanuel Macron to reflect on this sensitive issue, bringing together French people chosen by lot, decided in the spring of 2023 in a non-binding opinion for the opening under conditions of "active assistance in dying", term potentially covering euthanasia and assisted suicide.
The Head of State then committed to formulating a “French end-of-life model” but had repeatedly postponed his decisions.
